Dear Western Families...

I am excited to announce that registration for the 2019 Western Duluth Little League baseball season will open on Tuesday, January 15, 2019.

With that in mind, I wanted to share some important information with you regarding significant changes at Western for the coming season and beyond.

Please read this entire message carefully.

In previous years, we have offered the Minor and Major League divisions for players ages 10-12. These programs have given us great success within the Quad City Baseball organization while equipping our players with the fundamental skills they need to be successful in their future baseball careers. More importantly, these levels have served to promote our core values of teamwork, sportsmanship, hard work, and having fun.

Beginning in 2019, Western Duluth Little League will no longer offer the Major and Minor Leagues. This decision was approved by our Board Of Directors in conjunction with several other area associations in response to declining participation and the desire for an enhanced tournament experience.

Thus, WDLL will now only offer baseball opportunities for players ages 4-9.

Another area association, Duluth 709 Baseball, was formed in 2018 and will expand this year to include players ages 10-15 from the entire city of Duluth. This association is part of the Gopher State Baseball program, which is organized through Minnesota Youth Athletic Services (MYAS). They will be contacting you with more information regarding their program and registration process. In the meantime, players ages 10 & up may find more information about Duluth 709 Baseball by visiting

We wish to emphasize that Western Duluth Little League, Inc. is in no way affiliated with Duluth 709 Baseball, but we do fully support them in their efforts. We also wish to emphasize that the WDLL experience for players ages 5-9 will not change.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work through this transition and wish those players moving on to 709 the best of luck in their baseball futures.

If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Go Western!

Matt Peterson

President, Western Duluth Little League, Inc.
